Greek Easter in Santorini since 1988

It was Tuesday 26th February evening as every night in my office with relaxed music reading the messages from my clients from all over the world.  I suddenly see a message with attached files and with great curiosity and impatience, I open it and see text with old photos from the family.  Reading this, I am astonished and deeply moved. As I read the text a tear rolled down my face she turned me back to these beautiful and pure years of Santorini where I lived in my childhood and I will never forget them.

I realized that the Greek hospitality that I have been offering for so many years to our clients indeed comes from the true roots of my ancestors.
These people may have had no education or knowledge, but they have had a way to come together and to do well. This was and is the Greek hospitality. So let's listen to this story of those people who, after 32 years, remember and recount memories during the Easter season.

It was April 10, 1988 Passover Easter in Greece with departure from the port of Piraeus for Santorini. After a 10-hour journey, we arrived at the port of Santorini, where we witnessed a wild natural beauty, people with "Room to Let" labels pulling each other out who will lead us.
We went to the buses where we went to the city called "Fira", where a friendly young man named Marinos approached us and asked us if we wanted a room to stay and we accept his offer.

We walked to our family home where we saw his wife Mrs Evgenia with a perfect genuine smile, we were 6 people and so we got three double rooms.  Easter morning their family invited us to their Santorini feast where they welcomed us like they know us for years, what a great Greek hospitality.  We will never forget the Santorini wine, the traditional mezes, the island dance in the summer balconies the neighborhood until the morning where we also slept for a few hours.  When we wake up to their fields where the old man of the family "Roussetos" showed us what cultivates the landscape and made you forget everything, ahh….. the Greek traditions  will never be forgotten I will never forget what I experienced here and felt inside.

"It can be a short story but emotions make it so great,  as great as the pictures
which are really what a picture says….. a thousand words."

The son of the family today George Katsipis continue his family history and share with everyone the authentic Santorinian hospitality from the true roots of his ancestors. George introduces a new era of accommodation with his personal touch, his love for the Cycladic architecture and his welcoming attitude are just some of the elements that make George a "Superhost" with a vision to make every visitor feel like they just arrived in their Santorini home where a new friend awaits to share his love for his island and the genuine hospitality of Santorini!
